Professor Meng CHEN has been invited to speak at the upcoming International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM), to be held in Rio de Janeiro in August 2018.

The International Congress of Mathematicians, taken place every four years by the International Mathematical Union (IMU), is the largest and the most important conference in the mathematics community. 

The main research interests of Meng CHEN are centered on birational geometry of algebraic varieties, projective manifolds, algebraic fiber spaces and klt (lc) pairs. He has been devoted to the canonical classification of higher dimensional algebraic varieties. In particular, he has proved series of effective results in classifying projective threefolds.  He is supposed to give an invited talk, entitled "On explicit aspect of pluricanonical maps of projective varieties", which will be delivered jointly with Professor Jungkai Alfred Chen from National Taiwan University (NTU) at ICM 2018 to Section 4, Algebraic and Complex Geometry.
