The notion of sofic groups were introduced by Gromov a decade
ago. Sofic groups include all the discrete amenable groups and
residually finite groups, and currently it is unknown whether every
group is sofic or not. I will give an introduction to the entropy
theory for actions of countable sofic group, initiated by the
pioneering work of Lewis Bowen.
