In this talk I attempt to introduce the problem of mass gap in quantum Yang-Mills theory to mathematicians. Though at present this problem lacks an appropriate mathematical framework to get formulated properly, I will try to give the audience a sense of flavor of what need to be done and why the problem is challenging.
