In this talk we review previous results and current progress on local limits of random trees. We begin with an extremely elementary introduction to branching processes and random trees. The main part of this talk is about local limits of Galton-Watson trees, and we discuss three different conditionings of GW trees. Finally we give a quick introduction to Lévy trees and discuss local limits of Lévy trees.
