This is an introductory survey talk. I will first recall the classical Burke theorem in the simple M/M/1 queue model, and then review the extensions to Brownian queue and generalized Brownian queue due to O’connell and Yor. I will explain some first order asymptotic behaviors for semi-directed random polymers as a direct application.
