Abstract:
In this talk, we survey Killing symmetries on 4–dimensional smooth, connected manifolds admitting a metric of arbitrary signature. First, the basic concepts concerning the Lie algebra of Killing vector fields are recalled. After providing some examples, the dimensions of the Lie algebra of Killing vector fields and nature of the Killing orbits are determined such that the isotropy subalgebras can be computed. Some results and remarks regarding Killing symmetries are presented for all signatures. Finally, the algebraic natures of the Ricci and Weyl tensors are studied and their relationships between the isotropy subalgebra are indicated.
