In this talk, I will first review a well-known correspondence between parabolic Higgs bundles (Hitchin pairs) and bundles over orbifold. This correspondence raises the question how to construct the moduli space of Hitchin pairs over Deligne-Mumford stack. This moduli space exists by constructing a well-behaved deformation and obstruction theory.
