The classical Langlands program aims to generalize the class field theory and has been developed for several decades. I will discuss some modern viewpoints of the Langlands program and connections to other areas such as representation theory, harmonic analysis and algebraic geometry. I will also talk about its role in the Gan-Gross-Prasad conjectures and some of my results in such direction.
