Presentation Name: Introduction to random planar maps

Abstract:
Angel and Schramm proved in 2003, that uniform planar triangulations converge for the local topology. The limiting law, known as UIPT (for Uniform Infinite Planar Triangulation) and its continuous counterpart the Brownian map have been much studied since and are now well understood objects. In this talk, we will start by giving an introduction and a short survey of the theory of random planar maps. We will then turn to the more recent problem of random planar maps coupled with statistical physics models (e.g. the Ising model) and the new challenges it poses. The talk should be fairly accessible and non technical.
