Operator splitting is a powerful methodology to reduce a complicated problem into a sequence of simpler pieces, so that each simpler piece can be solved separately and efficiently. I will present a few examples to illustrate the applications of operator splitting methods, where all those examples are related to Hamilton-Jacobi equations.
