Once working as the reference room of Department of Mathematics, Mathematics Library of Fudan University has been given priority by national and municipal governments for decades on the advice of Professor Su Buqing, Professor Chen Jiangong and many other reputable mathematicians. Since 1950s, the library has been receiving continuous support from the Ministry of Higher Education, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the State Education Commission and the Ministry of Education. In February 1990, Mr.Zhu Kaixuan, former director of the State Education Commission, in company of Professor Su Buqing and Mr. Hua Zhongyi, President of Fudan Univeristy, visited the reference room of the Department of Mathematics and elaborated on its future grant plan.
 At present, the area of reference room and collections house in the library has reached1,300 square meters. With 6 management personnel, It has collected 130,000 volumes of books (including journals), more than 680 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals, 560 kinds of electronic journals, all of which have been registered in the unified management and circulation system of Fudan University. The annual average funding from 2000 to 2012 was not less than 200 million yuan (100 million from Library of Fudan University). The library, featuring complete collections of mathematics literature and advanced facilities, is symbolized as a trailblazer in all universities in China.
The library is primarily accessible to faculty members and graduate students of Fudan University. It is also open to undergraduate students with valid Fudan ID. While striving to serve teachers and students in our school, the library wins the praise of all parties with friendliness and enthusiasm. In order to give full play to its collection, the library is planned to be built into a national center of mathematics literature in South China.
